I first watched this movie at a friend's house 4 years ago and I have to say I really enjoyed it! It is a funny romantic comedy that delves into the developing chemistry between two people (Sandra Bullock as Lucy and Hugh Grant's character as George Wade).
The story is basically about Lucy who goes to work for George Wade's multimillion company as an assistant in exchange for Wade's help to keep a local Community Center standing and not have it torn down to build a new shopping development. Later as she goes on working for him she gets fed up about the lack of attention and respect that she receives so she gives him her 2 weeks Notice. What happens after that is a budding romance between Bullock's and Grant's character that leads to pleasant and surprising twists and turns. At one point in the movie when Lucy gets frustrated she calls Wade "the most selfish man on the planet"! I don't want to ruin the movie for people who didn't watch it by saying if the Community Center remains open, but either way it is a laugh out loud romantic comedy the whole family will enjoy.
If you haven't seen this movie already you are missing out! Many Blockbuster Videos have older movies for rental for only $1.99, or you can rent it via Netflix. I highly recommend this movie. Goo see it!

After One in a Million 1936, Sonja Henie was fast becoming a Hollywood star in the front rank. In THIN ICE she is teamed with her then-boyfriend Tyrone Power and the chemistry is explosive... It`s a Cinderella-story, but given the full treatment by 20th Century-Fox - it`s almost like an MGM extravaganza :-)
The skating is good and Joan Davis as a comedy relief is a winner. As a matter of fact I can`t understand the fuzz they make about the Astaire&Rogers musicals over at RKO... I much more prefer the Sonja Henie`s at 20th Century-Fox... They are never OVERLONG and never outstays their welcome:-)
The affair with Power never ended in marriage; he was bisexual and Sonja found out... When he married French Annabella she was reportedly deeply hurt though they remained friends up until Power died of a heart-attack while filming in 1958.
Read more about Thin IceUnencumbered by erudition and impervious to logic, Karl ambles down a heuristic path to enlightenment under the edifying influence of Ricky and Steve. His pronouncements on such diverse and contentious topics as population control, simian affairs within human society, the sartorial deliberations of solitary spacemen and how long you can stay alive with your head chopped off, are matched in the vehemence with which they are proposed only by the degree to which they are ill-conceived.
Featuring Karl's original illustrations, imaginative scribblings and the best conversations of the world record-breaking Podcasts, The Ricky Gervais Show, this is a unique trip into the world of one of our most innovative thinkers, visionaries and prophets, or as Gervais knows him, "the funniest man I've ever met."
Review:
If you love the podcasts you'll love this book. Karl is one of the most entertaining people to come along in a VERY LONG time. Who else talks about chimps grabbing womens' chests, flying planes, participating in the 4 man bobsleigh, performing eye surgery, and chimps that get cheeky with the zoo keeper's wife?
His drawings are great too!
I'd definitely buy some of his artwork.

High School Musical 3: Senior Year is the third film in Disney's record-smashing series, and the first to debut in theaters rather than on the Disney Channel, and while many of the elements are the same, the film is at times bigger to accommodate the big screen. All the usual characters are back, but not for long: it's senior year, and the classmates are all facing the prospect of leaving East High in separate directions. Lily Allen is one of my favorite artists of all time! She is so diverse and funny and amazingly talented! I fell in love with her debut cd Alright, Still and I have anxiously awaited her followup album! It's Not Me, It's You has more than delivered!!! The music has changed a little and now has an electronic pop feel, instead of a ska pop feel. The new sound is absolutely brilliant and I love it! Lily worked on this sound with Greg Kurstin, who is one half of the amazing band The Bird and the Bee. If you like this album, check out the Bird and the Bee's new album Ray Guns Are Not Just The Future.
Every single song on the album is amazing and shines in it's own right! I can't pick a favorite because I love them all! This is sure to be one of the best albums on 2009 and it's only February!
Bottom Line: Buy this amazing sophomore album by Lily Allen! You will not regret it at all!!! :)

I've been a fan of The Lonely Island for a while, and it's exciting to see "the dudes" finally start getting recognition for their talents.
I originally thought this album was a joke when it was announced, but I'm very happy it's for real, because it's hilarious.
Musically, it's actually catchy and very solid. I'm sure some people will hear it and not even realize it's a joke at first. Once you pay attention to the lyrics though, it's just amazing.
I do feel that some of the effect is lost by not seeing the creative videos that were made for the songs (although those are included as well), but once you've seen the videos, you'll picture them as you hear the songs anyway.
If you've been a fan of the Saturday Night Live's Digital Shorts, The Lonely Island, or just Andy Samberg, I guarantee you'll enjoy this album.

What can I say that can't really be found anywhere else? Not too sure but this installment of Batman was great and the Joker was phenomenal!

I found the message touching. Not too many movies have a moral let alone a Christian message. I didn't think the acting was all terrible. I actually thought Kirk did a decent job. Some of the others though, well they just did OK, about as good as your local school play. The lack of quality acting wasn't overly detrimental to the story line. The comedic moments I thought were over the top. Goofy more than funny. My wife and I did laugh quite hard at some of the scenes together. Many I don't think our response was what the makers intended. Its not a great movie but the message is good and other than being a little slow, and some not so good acting it was still enjoyable. Its a movie with a Christian message. You anti-Christians need to relax. You don't have to watch it, and I truly doubt anyone on the planet doesn't know about its Christian content.

I liked about half of The Rising, but I never play it any more. Same for Magic. WOAD, after 4 full LOUD listens in the car this week, seems to be the best Bruce rock disc since Tunnel of Love.
If nothing else, it makes me think of what TOL might have sounded like as an E-Street album. By the way, I think if WOAD was EXACTLY the same but sung by Johnny Cash and produced by Rick Rubin it would be hailed as an all-time great album. But so many Bruce fans are haters (that's a whole mental study waiting to be done) it even gets bashed on home turf.
I know there are a lot of folks who wish for 1970's retreads, and that's cool, but I like the fact that Bruce has changed his sound a lot lately and still has not produced duds of the magnitude Dylan and the Stones have. That's pretty remarkable.
Anway, haters click out. Open minders, read on for quick thoughts on a few tracks.
Outlaw Pete - This has been called an attempt at a murder ballad, and also has been ripped for the baby lyrics. If you follow American music pre-1960 you'll see the kind of bragging that leads to legends of diaper wearing baby thieves. It is not a murder ballad in the traditional sense, but it is a pretty iconic outlaw story. And I love how each time "Can you hear me" comes around it has a different meaning, from the young Pete seeking attention to the "ghost" Pete calling out for his daughter.
Queen - The same melancholy stalking that made "I Wanna Marry You" creepy fun is back. What guy hasn't seen a checkout girl he thought about taking home? It's just that most of us never turned the idea into art. By the time the high pitched backing vocals come in, this song is in a sonic swirl worthy of anything Bruce has done.
WOAD - It is a folk song. I bet it is the one from this album that people are covering 20 years from now.
Good Eye - I keep hitting replay to hear when Max and Garry come in. Damn that grooves!
Tomorrow Never Knows - Again, if it were Johnny Cash, we'd be bowing down.
The Byrds Set
Life Itself - Kingdom Of Days - Surprise, Surprise
This is one of the best three-in-a-row stretches he has ever had. Life Itself, with its twisting backtracked guitars has the burbling drone from verse 2 on that is classic late-era Byrds. Kingdom of Days continues the feel mixed with a little Beatles - is that Yoko signing?, while the incredibly catchy Surprise, Surprise sounds like McGuinn and Lennon replaced Lofgren and VanZandt.
I favor folksy Bruce, so Last Carnival and The Wrestler are comfy places for me.
But unlike Magic where i skipped tracks at almost every listen, this is a straight-through disc for me.
I cannot believe how much I love it.
Rob
PS: One of the neat things about Bruce's career is that he can change his sound. Greetings through The River dic 1 are relatively similar. From The River disc 2 you start a more folk-styled blend that streaks through his work up to The Rising. But then, BITUSA, TOL and WOAD make a great trio of pop records.
And thing is, even on the panned pair of LT and HT, there are just great freaking songs. With Every Wish and I Wish I Were Blind are enough to warrant HT. And LT, I dare say most artists would be happy to write If I Should Fall Behind and My Beautiful Reward in their CAREERS, lest have them both on a lesser album.
The man has never released an album without great songs. That is unreal.
Review:
Even today, Bruce Springsteen's concerts achieve something close to a religious experience. Anyone who has seen him live knows that The Boss has an ability to touc his fans in a way few other artists have been able to do. His songs speak directly to them, and they know every word, as if they're connected by soul just as much as sound.
he no doubt is still able to retain that special connection today, few argue that Bruce hit his peak in the years 1975 to 1985, when he was unquestionably the best live act in town. Their absolute worst nights would be considered definitive shows for lesser bands, but Springsteen and The E. Street Band played with an energy unseen in rock and roll, built up from the frustration Bruce felt from the trappings of his small town upbringings and his desire to make his dream real.
This three cd, 40 song set serves as the definitive documentation of what it was like to see The Boss live in his best years. Every song here is pakced with that aforementioned energy, each one exploding out of the starting gate. This is the kind of music rock and roll was created for - in your face, raunchy, anthemic and unapologetic. There's a visceral thrill matched only by some form of Divine Intervention that comes from hearing 80,000 people singing along to every song by heart. Listen, on Disc 1, for how, in unison, every single audience member raise their voices for the opening lines of "Hungry Heart." This performance alone is proof of Bruce's genius with his fans.
, there are blazing renditions of classics like "Rosalita," "Born In The U.S.A.," "Badlands," "Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out" and a host of others that leave their recorded renditions in the New Jersey dust. "Born To Run," one of rock's most prominent anthems, is given its definitive treatment, and the result is almost haunting, with Bruce's voice screaming against the throngs of admiring fans with sizzling, almost superhuman passion. (Surprisingly, given their popularity at the time of their releases, neither "Dancing In The Dark" nor "Glory Days" are present.)
Bruce wrote for other artists are also included in vastly superior renditions, such as "Fire" and "Because The Nights," as well as excellent covers of Edwin Starr's "War" and Tom Waitts' "Jersey Girl." booklet contains lyrics as well as a slew of rare photos of Bruce and his band. The sound quality is excellent, and this cd is a flawless document of one of rock's most important figures.

Bruce is still on top. The Wrestler is haunting and sums up the the movie so well that the director had to put it in the closing credits so as not to spoil the movie. Queen of the Supermarket and Life Itself are great! I hope after the summer Europe tour Bruce adds some Florida dates!!!
